From September 27 to January 22, I will be on sabbatical at the Near East School of Theology or NEST (http://www.theonest.edu.lb/) in Beirut, Lebanon, taking some time out from my home institution, McCormick Theological Seminary (http://mccormick.edu). My thanks to the trustees and faculty of McCormick Seminary who provided me with a year-long sabbatical.
During four months at NEST I will be teaching two courses: ST 363 Luther and Calvin and ST 302 Doctrine of Christ. I will also be studying Arabic and seeking to learn more about Christianity in the Middle East. On a weekly basis this blog, Nesting In Beirut, will be updated with stories, reflections, and pictures of the persons and places I am experiencing. Later in the fall I intend to travel to Syria and Jordan to extend my knowledge of the Middle East.
Glad to see you found a catchy name too!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your commissioning tomorrow at EPC. Your church family, your home family and all your families will be in prayer for your "nesting."
